Rediscovery of Apseudes cedroensis Menzies, 1953 (Tanaidacea: Apseudidae) in the Gulf of California, Mexico
Contributions to the Study of East Pacific Crustaceans, 4(2):55-58.
The tanaid Apseudes cedroensis Menzies, 1953, is reported for the first time since its original description. Abundant material was obtained at three localities in the Gulf of California, Mexico, and contained specimens much larger than those used by Menzies and that were collected on the west coast of Baja California, Mexico. Small variations are observed in the shape of the telson, but the newly reported material fit well with the original description. The species was collected between 37 and 77 m, in mixed muddy sediments and in fine muddy sand, with epibenthic temperature of 16.0 to 22.5°C and dissolved oxygen of 3.0-3.1 ml/l.
