Mysidacea from shallow water on the Caribbean coast of Panama

Mysids collected with a light detritus sledge on the Caribbean coast of Panamá, in May 1973 have been examined. Two new species are described and figured: Mysidopsis arenosa and M. mauchlinei. The following species, all new to the area, are recorded: Siriella chierchiae Coifmann, Bowmaniella bacescui Brattegard, B. brasiliensis Băcescu, B. sewelli Brattegard, Amathimysis cherados Brattegard, A. gibba Brattegard, A. polita Brattegard, Brasilomysis castroi Băcescu, Cubanomysis jimenezi Băcescu, Metamysidopsis swifti Băcescu, Mysidopsis bispinulata Brattegard, M. brattstroemi Brattegard, M. taironana Brattegard, M. velifera Brattegard, Parvimysis bahamensis Brattegard, Mysidium columbiae (Zimmer), M. gracile (Dana), M. integrum W.M. Tattersall, Heteromysis actiniae Clarke, and H. nouveli Brattegard. Data on occurrence, depth, bottom types, breeding, brood size, egg size etc. within the study area are given for all species.
