Rediscovery of Fizesereneia tholia Kropp, 1994 (Decapoda, Cryptochiridae)
Crustaceana, 88:741-745.
The gall crab Fizesereneia tholia Kropp, 1994 (Cryptochiridae) was described based on a single ovigerous female from material collected during the Rumphius I expedition in 1973 in the Moluccas (Indonesia). This species was encountered on only two occasions in Indonesia and Malaysia despite extensive collecting between 2007 and 2012, but not in Japan or the Red Sea (Zayasu et al., 2013; Van der Meij et al., 2015). During a 2015 inventory of the cryptochirid diversity of the Maldives (Faafu Atoll) several specimens of Fizesereneia tholia were collected. The species is illustrated in colour for the first time.
