Two new Antarctic species of the genus Epimeria (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Paramphithoidae), with description of juveniles

Epimeria pulchra n. sp. and Epimeria oxicarinata n. sp. are described from the Antarctic. These species seem to be closely related to Epimeria grandirostris (Chevreux, 1912), which is redescribed in this paper. The juveniles of the new species are described and are considerably different from the adults. There are no dorsal carinae, and no armature on pereonites and pleonites. The reduction of acute body processes in the juveniles is interpreted as adaptation to early life in the marsupium. A smooth body is considered to be a plesiomorphic feature.
