The Southwestern Atlantic Crangonidae (Caridea, Decapoda) including first records of two species

Cahiers De Biologie Marine, 54(1):85-92.

The family Crangonidae comprises 22 genera and 219 species. Only three species are recorded in the Southwestern Atlantic: Aegaeon boschii (Christoffersen, 1988), Parapontophilus longirostris (Komai, 2008) and Philocheras gorei (Dardeau, 1980). The samples analysed herein were collected during two projects: the REVIZEE Central (Fishery) (from 11 to 22 S) and the project of Evaluation of Environmental Heterogeneity in the Campos Basin (21 degrees 38'-2248'S). Two Crangonidae species are recorded for the first time in the Southwestern Atlantic: Parapontocaris caribbaea (Boone, 1927) and Parapontophilus gracilis (Smith, 1882). Besides, the second record of A. boschii is done 23 years after its original description, and P longirostris is also presented.
