Geographic distribution of nematocarcinidae shrimps (Crustacea, Decapoda)
Zoologicheskii Zhurnal, 90:293-301.
Nematocarcinidae shrimps that inhabit on the continental slope and in abyss include three monotypic genera (Lipkius, Nigmatullinus, Lenzicarcinus) and the genus Nematocarcinus (51 species) demonstrate the typical distribution of Indo-West Pacific group (74.5\% of the Nematocarcinus species dwell here) with the center of the species diversity in East Indies Triangle where 27.7\% of the species are found. Nematocarcinidae shrimps settle all oceans (with the exception of the Arctic Ocean) mainly in the tropics and subtropics. In the family, there are 2 tropic cosmopolites (Nigmatullinus acanthitelsonis and Nematocarcinus tenuipes), 2 Indo-West Pacific species (Nematocarcinus tenuirostris and N. parvus), and 2 species with the Panama-Caribbean area (N. faxoni, N. ensifer). Moreover, N. ensifer is an amphiatlantic species. The others 36 species (76.6\%) are endemic species of the provinces (including N. proximatus which may be considered as a species of the Kerguelen subregion of the Antarctic region) and 6 species (12.8\%) are endemic species of the regions.
