Naushonia-Lactoalbida, New Species (decapoda-Thalassinidea-Laomediidae), a Mud Shrimp from Inhaca Island, Mocambique

Journal of Crustacean Biology, 12(3):514-522.

A new species of the rare burrowing mud shrimp genus Naushonia has been found at Inhaca Island, in southern Mocambique. This is the sixth species in the genus, the first one found in the southern hemisphere and the second one found in the Indian Ocean. It was obtained from the entrance of its burrow in low water on a tidal flat.
