Redescription of Atyaephyra rosiana De Brito Capello, 1867 (Decapoda, Caridea, Atyidae) based on a population close to the topotypical area

Crustaceana, 81(2):191-205.

The freshwater shrimp, Atyaephyra rosiana De Brito Capello, 1867 is redescribed on the basis of a population (Algarve, Portugal) close to the topotypical area and a neotype is designated for this species. Its original description by De Brito Capello (1867) is very short and inadequate. A detailed comparison of the neotypes of A. rosiana and Atyaephyra desmarestii (Millet, 183 1) revealed the presence of key morphological features that clearly distinguish these species from each other.
