Historical Collection
The Royal Belgian Institute of Natural Sciences (RBINS) has held meteorites in its collections since the nineteenth century.

- The present collection consists of 1030 samples from 235 different meteorites (see World Map).
- We also have 339 non-official specimen.
- 74 are Sahara meteorites that are not yet officially described. They received a provisional name (NWA).
- 6 Belgian meteorites (5 falls and 1 find) are curated at the RBINS, 5 ordinary chondrites and 1 achondrite.
- The largest specimen at RBINS is a mass from the iron meteorite Mont Dieu, 435 kg, acquired in 2006
