Description: losse brokstukken in het veld
* eerder bruingrijze kleur met lichtere, beige-kleurige spots,
runkorrelige textuur met onregelmatig tot conchoïdale breuk, glanzend
oppervlak
groter brokstuk (15 op 7cm) met zichtbaar gemamelonneerd
oppervlak, lichtgrijzs tot meer donkergrijs en lichtere spots
(na doorsnede afgeronde, lichtgrijze ronde tot elliptische
lichaampjes zichtbaar binnen een donkergrijze,frjnkorrelige massa->
bodemproces?)

An agriculturalfield in Wommersom (red dots inflg.25) contains a much
more
brown variety of the Tienen quartzitic arenite. It is very fine grained and
shows conchoidalfracturing. Within the dark brown matrix are more
bright to
yellow spots visible which seem to be characteristic of this type (samples).
Other blacks are the light grey, more granular, mamelonnated types with a
sugary fracture surface of which sorne show a pattern of globules or
brecciation
with rounded, light grey particles within a darker grey matrix (sample). A
thin
section will give a closer look to the originfformation of this pattern.
